Sterling Mining Company was founded in 1903 in Wallace, Idaho and traded as a silver mining stock. This website is dedicated to the men and women of Sterling Mining, and including history of Sterling Mining and its properties in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District and the Zacatecas Silver District.

Producing and Exploring in the Zacatecas Silver Distirct

Sterling began operations in Mexico, with the Baroness Silver Project in 2004. It was the first environmentally-safe thiosulphate project in Zacatecas. Sterling’s President Ray De Motte and in Mexico General Manager the late Martin Sutti, spearheaded development of properties in Mexico. The Baroness reached solid profitable commercial production, and by 2006 surface material from the San Acacio project was also being processed

Producing , Developing and Exploring in Idaho and Montana

Beginning with 340 acres in 1998, by May 2008 Sterling controlled over 70,000 acres of key silver prospects. Production from the ‘upper country’ of the Sunshine Mine was underway and profitable, and Sterling was weeks away from profitable ongoing operations from deeper levels.
